Big problem Sorry if this is long winded but here goes.
My friends son passed his test 6 months ago and naturaly wanted to be mobile. The cost of insurance even for a £900 small Fiat insured in his name would have been over £4500, the family decided to buy the car in his fathers name who didnt own a car and insure it in his name with the son as the main driver at TPF&T.
3 months later whilst returning home he turned off a main road onto a side road and about 15 yards down, there was another side road onto that one. A driver exited from the second side road and his view was obscured by a parked car, he ran into the the drivers side of my friends sons car.
As the car was only insured TPF&T the insurance company handed the details over to the legal assistance that they had paid as part of the policy.
The legal assistance examined the car and declared it a write off, took the car and put it through auction and gave the family the lot number if they wanted to purchase it back, which they didnt. They supplied a hire car as according to them it was obvious that it was a no fault claim and it would be recovered from the other party. An additional premium was payable on the hire car to allow the son to drive it.
3 months down the line they are now saying that the other driver is disputing fault as my friends son came from nowhere (Nice defence, he must be a magician).
They are now taking the hire car back and handing the case over to their legal team to see what can be done, after 3 months.
In the meantime my friends family are now left with no car, no money and still paying the premium on the origonal policy.
Surely someone, somewhere now owes the money for the car. |
