Default Funeral Expenses Plans

I wonder if anyone has any experience of these plans and how they have been marketed and sold? My parents took out two in the 90's but closer examination reveals them to be nothing more than whole life cover. I have managed to get copies of the original literature which clearly describes them as funeral expenses plans.

If anyone has any experience of these plans and how to challenge them it would be appreciated.

I don't like these funeral expenses plans very much - a lot of people would be better off paying the money into a savings plan instead, rather than buying a policy like this. When your parents took out the plan, they should have been warned there's a possibility they might pay more in premiums than the funeral is actually worth. If they weren't warned, then you could claim it was mis-sold.

Thanks for that Lemon. The plan was purchased via the AA but it was underwritten by Eagle Star. They had no visit from a salesman but bought it via an ad in the paper. My main concern is that it is advertised as an expenses plan yet it is nothing more than whole life cover. I have written to Zurich and they are being very snotty about it and basically telling me to take it to the FSA.
