Defaulted by MoreThan for missed payment..

I'm currently in the midst of reclaiming unlawful bank charges, and having opened a new bank account, have decided to move most of my day to day banking to that.

I notified Royal & Sun Alliance (More Than) of the change for the direct debit, and thought nothing more of it. Until today when a default notice (s87 CCA 1974) arrived.

Perhaps someone can enlighten me, as
1) I wasn't aware I had a credit agreement with them
2) Shouldn't they be less threatening especially when it's their fault they tried to DD the wrong bank account ?

I've rung them today, and the droids on the phone just wanted to know my new bank account details (which they then said they already had)... no apologies...

They say it's all sorted out now... but no doubt more mistakes will be made.

Unfortunately if you pay monthly instalments for insurances you do enter into a credit agreement nowadays, they will also credit check you and register the default, thereby making it nigh on impossible to get monthly payments elsewhere!

From the phone conversation I had, it seems they might not register the default as it has been settled by me sorting out the missed payment.

Had I let in run for 14 days without payment, I guess they would have registered the default.
