Default Has this ever happened to anyone else...

Last year I unfortunately was laid off work with kidney problems for 3 and a half months, I was insured or so I thought with Legal & General, I remember filling out the forms 6 months previously and posting them off, the payments were due to come out of my account via direct debit.
To my horror when I went to make a claim I was told that they had never heard of me, apparently they never recieved my paperwork, I checked my bank statements but nothing had come out, it was a shock..
The worst of it is Ive been struggling for 12 months now with my kidney problem and have lost 7 months work and as it is an existing condition I cant really take out a new policy and claim.....I dont think anyone can help just wanted to get it off my chest...I blaim Royal Mail i think..

Did you not receive any acknowledgement/confirmation/policy documents after you applied for the policy?

If not did you chase them up to see where they were?

I don't think anybody can help you as it is your responsibility to ensure you receive your policy documents, acknowledgement etc and to ensure your payments are made and kept up-to-date.

Sorry
