Enron,

I'm afraid that if you check the small print of most of the insureres now, if you pay by credit card DD etc then it is in the contract.

It's just another way of retaining renewals. You'd be suprised but it actually works as even now a lot of people do not shop around.

And unfortunately, it's legal !!!

Now the interesting thing here is that I have an elderly neighbour, who's Tesco home insurance I paid for on my credit card - got paid by cheque later that day.

Just wonderring now this has come in whether they'd try and bill the card of a third party.

Default Tesco's Car Insurance..... You won't believe this.....

Couldn't believe what Tesco's are doing, you now have to opt out or your policy automatically gets renewed at the premium they suggest.

Thought the figure they quoted was creeping up so instead chose to go to the AA who were £50 cheaper.

And low and behold, 5 days later the Tesco's insurance certificate arrives on the doorstep to my great surprise.

Phone them and was told you have to phone them to opt out of the policy auotmatically renewing. Needless to say was very unhappy, and the charge is being refunded.

Mentioned that I had thought the policy was expensive so we went with someone else, at which point they said they could come to a deal over the price.

Needless to say, despite their reasonable initial quotes feel that this takes the pee.
