Default Re: how long to assess a claim??? help please

hi all, i need some advise on where i stand regarding this claim.
about a week after my last update i received a letter from AIG saying that they were going to pay out on this claim as a matter of urgency, so 10 days later and still no offer so i rang them again, to be told that they only thought we were claiming for 1 sofa, when we were claiming for 2 sofas and a carpet for the stairs and landing, i explained this to them and they said they'd get back to me.
4 weeks later i rang them again to be told an offer letter was in the post at the moment with respect to the full claim,
1 week later still no offer, i ring again to be told that they were sending an offer to me later that day,
so upto date now, and still no offer. so today i rang them again and they said that an offer has just been posted this morning, again!!!!!! i told them i wanted an offer today over the phone, well they just phoned back to offer us £500 for the sofa which cost us £700 new, and the policy is new for old, so i asked why only 1, he said that thats all we claimed for, anyway he then went on to say that thats all they'd be willing to pay out for, they've decided that only 1 sofa was genuinley damaged.

where do i go from here?????????

MoreThan/LessThan???

Simialr situation here, I am following your thread too and I hope you get somewhere with them soon. It seems to me that some, if not all, insurance companies like to take our premiums, but don't seem to want to pay us when we are in crisis?????????????????
Does anyone know how to use the legal cover???????????

Whats the point in new for old on our policies if they don't pay out what we paid for them??? Are we just as well not to bother paying the extra premium for this???
