Default mister.g vs HSBC - SETTLED IN FULL

First of all hi to everyone on here.

I came across this site (as i'm sure many people did) though MSE and after calculating bank charges since i joined the HSBC in Sept 02 i've written to them requesting refund of £734.50. I posted this by recorded delivery on Fri 21st by recorded delivery to Allan Petty so it's time to play the waiting game now.

I've also written to Lloyds TSB requesting statements dating back to Jan 99 (playing dumb regarding the 6 year rule - if they pay up everything for that timescale i'll try again going for everything dating back to June 93 when i started banking with them) and First Direct.

I also understand (though i've not yet looked into it in more detail) that i can apply the same principle to credit card charges. If this is the case i could be writing a few more letters out before i'm finished!!

Andy

A quick update regarding my case. After hearing not a sausage from the HSBC i sent my LBA out yesterday, in the 14 days they've now got i'm gonna familiarise myself with exactly what i need to do next then i'll be ready for when they (invariably) ignore me again.

Having sent my Prelim and LBA letters out i've stil not heard a thing from HSBC - is this a usual tactic of theirs as a lot of threads on here indicate they at least receive a standard 'we're not interested' letter. I know both letters have been delivered and signed for having checked the royal mail website.

Don't worry about it, some people receive nothing at all until they lodge a claim with moneyclaim. I got a Data Protection Act form in reply to my prelim letter (which was nothing to do with DPA!) and have heard nothing yet after sending my LBA over a week ago.

It doesn't matter whether they reply or don't reply, unless it's a full offer just carry on until it's moneyclaim time.

I filed my moneyclaim around the 21/5, got a letter back the day after saying they were willing to settle around £630 of the original £730 charges which i of course ignored. Got an acknowledgement of my claim dated 31/5 and then a letter saying they they were confident charges would stand blah blah blah but mindful of legal costs would refund me in full (including interest and legal costs!)

Result!!
