| | Basic Account Customer | trying to save Vs HSBC i sent a prelim letter to HSBC on the 12/03/2007 using templates from martins money tips website (sorry before i discovered CAG) asking for a refund of charges £865.50 and 8% interest £344.26 total £1209.76.
From now having a good look around this site, i should not of added the interest on yet is that right ?? anyway this is the response that i have received this morning Thank you for your letter dated 12 March 2007 requesting a refund of your bank charges of £1,209.76 passed during the last 6 years. The bank does not agree that our charges are in any way unfair or unenforceable. The contract between the bank and its customers is governed by ourPersonal Banking Terms and Conditions. If you ask us to make a payment that would, if met by us, lead to your account going overdrawn, or over an agreed limit, the bank considers whether or not to make this payment and a fee is payable for this service. Our fees and charges are stated in our published price list and the circumstances in which these charges will apply are set out in our terms and conditions. While I accept that this letter will not provide the response that you hoped for, I trust that I have been able to clarify the bank's position. However, should this not be the case, the attached guidance sheet explains the next steps available to you. Yours sincerely Colin Langdale Senior Service Quality Officer Full Response - Guidance Sheet We hope that you will be happy with the attached response and that this matter has now been addressed to your satisfaction. Alternatively, if you wish to escalate your concerns to the next stage, you can write to the Senior Manager of our Service Quality Team, at the following address, enclosing a copy of this letter: The Senior Manager Service Quality Team HSBC Bank pic Arlington Business Centre Millshaw Park Lane Leeds LS110PP If we do not hear from you within the next eight weeks, we will consider matters resolved. Cases we cannot resolve can ultimately be referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service, further details of which can be found in our Listening to your comments' leaflet. Is this a standard response from HSBC ?? Should i now send them a LBA but take off the 8% interest and just charge them the £865.50 Advice please !!! |

| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: trying to save Vs HSBC ok, so, back on track then? prelim sent and no interest this time! 14 days - you send the lba - no matter what colin sends you (unless it's a 100% offer -ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha - best laugh i've had all day!!!!!
and just take this time to go over your statements again - looking for anything you might want to add - you could add charges right up to filing your claim - so take a good look. (one beginner's mistake to avoid - don't just go adding the interest debits on - as that's a mistake - if you were to try and claim them - the overdraft interest - you would need to use the advanced s/s and it would decide how much is reclaimable on each interest debit ... at the level of your claim - i doubt they would be worth it - so i'd just ignore the interest debits and just add up all the others that you can claim - check them with this list: Charges description on statements - Please Read . Then enter them all oldest to newest on the simple spreadsheet and put the date for the spreadsheet at the date you will be filing - that's the prelim + 14 days to the lba then + 14 days and you get your earliest filing date - that way your interest will be spot on.
you can use the spreadsheet as your list of charges - just fold back or cover the 8% column and use it with your lba. then you are all ready for the next step. keep one step ahead - so be getting your lba ready now - then you will be ready to just send it when the 14 days have passed. |
