More Contact details Just registered today, and thought I'd give HSBC a ring over the phone first to see if I'd get any leeway.
Having spoken to India first and explianed I wanted a refund of £1000 in charges, I was put through to a chap named Martin (not the infamous M Bowden, perchance??). Having explained all the legal bumf as to why I was claiming, he said they could only refund charges accrued in the last 1 to 2 months.
He said for a case like his, I would have to contact head office. And he gave me 2 numbers, firstly for the main switchboard in Canada Sq, 0207 991 8888, and secondly a freephone line for customer relations 0800 88 11 55.
I'm going to try these tomorrow, and if I don't get anywhere, I'll add my name to those writing to HSBC.
I quoted the Stephen Hone - Abbey National case (under the unfair terms section of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999), as well as the cConsumer Credit Act, claiming the charges are disproportionate to the costs incurredby HSBC, as well as the Office of Fair Trading and the FSA.
Will let you know how I get on! you never know, I may even get them refunded... |
