Well, after trying to digest whole load on info from this site and others I am about to send of my preliminary request for repayment (£1257 worth) to HSBC. I've used the standard template but i'm a little confused about the line I enclose a schedule of the charges which I am claiming with this letter. What's this about? Should Ibe sending a copy of my statements with the charges highlighted? Should I just omit this line?

Hi. Some banks have been trying to railroad the system by claiming that they never got a list of the charges claimed. When you claim on MCOL, there is not enough space to list all charges, of course.

That's why we have amended the template to include this line. You need to list the charges, how much they were for, when incurred. That's it. Then the bank can't deny all knowledge of it. (Yes, we are well aware that all they have to do is press a few buttons and it will be there for them to see. They do it anyway)

Thanks. I've just popped them all into the spreadsheet and i'll take out the intrest columns.

The fact that HSBC only usually label charges as "Total charges" rather than each individual offence doesn't reall help.

Well, I think I'm now as prepared as I'll ever be so the letter will be going out recorded deliery tomorrow

I can't believe it. HSBC actually coughed up after just one letter. I had already sent the second by the time I received the first but it's dated the same day as I sent my second. They have acreed to pay up £1140 out of a £1267 claim. That'll ding-dang-do thank you very much .

Only think is, I wasn't expecting a reply so quickly and was away on holiday and i've missed the deadline for the reply by 3 days. Will this be a problem? Even if it is, I'll just end up getting even more out of them so I can't see them put up much of a fuss.
