Default National Express made me miss my plane!

The National Express coach broken down on the way to the airport and I missed my plane as a result. The only way I could get to my destination was to buy another ticket at double the price – what should my next steps be?

Step 1: If you have travel insurance, claim from them. They will have a section relating to flights missed due to circumstances outside your control. (they don't pay if you miss your flight from not leaving sufficient time to get to the airport, but this is obviously not the case)

Step 2: If you don't have travel insurance, then turn to National Express, it is their liability and responsability. In fact, I would go after them even if I had insurance for the refund of the exfess ont he travel insurance.

Write down all the timings now, how long you were stuck for, what time you were supposed to get to the airport, etc. Do that now while it's fresh in your memory, it's surprising how quickly this kind of memories fade. Obviously, keep all receipts etc.
