Holiday cancellation extra leg room charge Hi - I'm after some much needed advice regarding a recent holiday I have booked...
In October myself and my partner booked a holiday through Thomas Cook for April of next year.
Unfortunately, I have recently undergone some unexpected health issues, which came as a huge surprise at only 25. Subsequently we are looking to cancel the holiday.
When we contacted to Thomas Cook, their representative was extremely rude, and said we would not get a penny of our £400 back which we paid for the deposit and extra flight leg room.
Now the deposit of £200 I can live with, but surely they are not entitled to keep the additional £200, which we paid to reserve extra leg room given the circumstances?
At the time we booked the deposit through our joint bank account, but paid for the leg room on a credit card. Would the fact that we booked through a credit card for the leg room help us to reclaim the money if the credit card company deem the charge unfair.
We have notified the cancellation well in advance of any such "deadlines" TC impose to claim additional funds, i.e. a further %age of the holiday.
Any advice anybody could give would be greately appreciated.
