Default Flight Complaint Seemed To Easy

So I would like to see what you guys think and ask for anyone in the know if you could check the wording to ensure im signing something thats binding .

Long story short is we had some trouble with a flight attendant on the way back from Sri Lanka, I got back and made some serious complaints to their head office and after around 10 days i got a email which made out the staff did all they could (which is rubbish) but they did offer 2 free flights(which amazed me) , but as a family of 5 we would struggle to use 2 tickets , So i emailed and put them straight on the facts and said that 2 tickets were of no use and i felt all should get tickets due to it effecting us all (I tried it on never expecting them to say yes) today i get a email saying after reviewing the complaint they would like to offer me the 5 tickets (then i picked myself up of the floor lol).

The issue is its seemed TOOOOOOO easy , giving 5x£1000ish tickets away !!?? So have you guys/gals got any help on this RELEASE AND INDEMNITY letter i need to sign to get these tickets

" We, the undersigned Mr. XXXXXX & Ms. XXXXX HEREBY declare that we accept from XXXXX XXXXX Limited Five Complimentary free tickets on economy class, firm basis to travel London/Colombo return in full, final and complete settlement of all claims of whatsoever nature rising out of or in connection with inconvenience experienced onboard flight XXX of XXth XX 2008. This offer is valid until XXth September 2009AND in consideration of the said offer we HEREBY jointly and severally agree to indemnify XXXXXX XXXXX Limited, its servants and agents from and against all further claims by whomsoever made in respect of the afore mentioned subject of the said flight. We accept that the said offer is made without prejudice and any admission of liability."

Any thoughts would be etremely appriciated

Thanks

I'm no expert but it seems fine to me. Basically seems to be saying if you accept this offer then don't bring up the matter again. Without prejudice just means that you couldn't show a District Judge - without him/her requesting to see it (should you not accept thier {very generous!} offer).

I'd say, without knowing what you experienced, you've done extremely well!

Thanks Thialand for your reply , there was a few things wrong , not answering call buttons (even after 8 times) which isnt much of a deal and giving the younger children meals at the same time as us so ours go cold, the normal moany things really apart from my disabled 4 year old had coke spilt all over him and then after waiting 10 mins for the stewardess to sort something out for him i went to find her only to find her sitting in the gallary area applying makeup ( i went beserk lol)

In all honesty i expected £100 or so to pay for the clothes to be cleaned but as always you never take the first offer and try for a bit more but to be offered 2 tickets was amazing but as i said not much good for a family of 5 lol , to i will give them a big hand after offering me 5 tickets.

I thought it was pretty normal but a few bits confused me a bit where it says "firm basis" and "We accept that the said offer is made without prejudice and any admission of liability." which seems strange to offer something if they are not accepting liability .

They are just saying that they have done nothing wrong - but here is your compensation. They are just saying it in case you decided to take them to court.

What airline was this if you don't mind my asking...as I really think they have treated you exceptionally well.

Nice to hear about a good company.

Was it SriLankan?

Thanks for the info, Ill sign it and get it sent off.

Yes it was SriLankan i had nothing but hassle to start with took 6 hours for the purser to come and and see me and even then he didnt come back like he said he would after he spoke to the woman involved.

I think we were treated disgustingly at the time and took a while to get hold of the right people to complain to but once i got to the right person and put the whole flight issues in a email along with pictures of my son they have dealt with it quite quickly. To be given the equivilant to £5k compo is amazing and never thought they would up their first offer which was very good itself.

I have read on many places that the CS in flight has gone down hill since Emirates have sold all their share of SL.

But the holiday was awesome

Exactly..no offence at all OP, but having read a gazllion threads on such expriences..I feel that Srilankan have really stepped up to the mark, believe me when I say other people had have had far worse happen to them, and got no such compo! Your thread really proves the point that paying that bit extra is worth it's weight in gold.

Emirates aren't as great as some folk suggest.... 'twas the worst service I ever got and that includes Brittania LOL. Your thread title sugests that all went well in the end, and thank you...Srilankan seem to be a great airline for future reference!

But the holiday was awesome
Glad you had a good hol, yet exceedingly jealous you managed to swing 5K in free flights.

I travelled with them in 2006 to Japan and they were awesome infact 8 flights with them have all been good and couldnt do enough for me and the wife, This time on the way it was OK but nothing to shout about and of course the way back was terrible.

The holiday itself was very expensive, the fact we had to pay so much for 3 children made it very expensive as the pay adult prices all in all I think that the way the complaints department have dealt with the matter has given me a renewed hope of their service as after the flight i said i would not travel with them again and would use another airline to fly to SriLanka on my future journies, but will give them another go and i hope we have a better experiance next time.

I think my worry was it seemed to good to be true and too easy on the topic header as it wasnt the lenthy drawn out affair i expected it was going to be.

Well done SriLanken !
