Default Cancelled Holiday

Hi Everyone

I booked a holiday Oct last year to travel in May this year but then cancelled it a month after booking and was told I would just lose my deposit which was ok because it was just £3.

The reason I cancelled it was because I decided to book a different holiday for Oct this year with the same company.

Today I have recieved a bill for the full amount of the holiday less the deposit I paid.

I rang them about the bill but they say they have no note on the account to say that I rang and cancelled.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do.

I have just sent a letter to them telling them everything I have just told them over the phone but is there anything else I can do seeing as it just seems like its my word against there's.

Default Re: Cancelled Holiday

It's always a good idea to get a cancellation reference number - and you should recieve cancellation notice in writing.

HOWEVER - many operators insist that cancellation is given in writing... did you only phone?

In summary though... they don't have your money... all they can do is start court proceedings to get it... it's unlikely - but if they do you can then put your side to the court.

As you booked another holiday with the same company to replace the cancelled one (was this at the same time?) it's most likely the court will believe your version of events.

(As the saying goes - possession is 9/10 of the law - you possess the money that they want....)

I booked a holiday with the same company about a month after I cancelled the original one.
