Angry Ebookers - how can I get a full refund?

Hi everyone, a few days ago I went onto ebookers to book a flight to ibiza for 6 weeks time. Whilst on the site, when entering my payment details, the ebookers system crashed and booted me out which clearly wasnt my fault!
As I had not received any email confirmation as expected, I assumed no booking had been made
I then went onto Last Minute.com to book the same flight which went through successfully. Thinking no more of it, I received a call at a very busy time at work from what I later found out was ebookers from a lady with a very Jamaican accent telling me my flight times had changed.
I said ok and assumed id get e-confirmation of this.
Looked at my card statement this morning and realised id been charged for both.
Not a happy bunny, called up ebookers and was told that the conversation with the E-lady had been recorded and was proof that I have confirmed the booking with them! the cheek of it.
More annoying is that they wont refund my £150 and pretty much accused me of lying about the other booking.
I have proof that I booked a few minutes later with last minute so surely this proves the point about the system crash.
Can anyone help me please, Im really frustrated about it and very willing to take the case further
Thanks

Wolfywoo,

Did you pay this on a CREDIT or DEBIT card?

Also, what is the cancellations policy with ebookers regarding cancelling a flight? is ebookers members of ATOL or ABTA?

I take it from your post, you want to take the flight booked with lastminute.com and not ebookers? it may also be worth checking the cancellation policy for lastminute.com see which is going to be the easiset (indeed if any) to cancel and reclaim your money.

I don't think there is anything you can do. You made the booking, and you have no automatic rights of cancellation. If you weren't sure the booking had gone through I think it would be your responsibility to check that before booking elsewhere.

Sorry about your situation - I worry in the back of my mind that that might happen to me every time I make an online booking, as I have the weakest wireless connection in the world.

I agree with barracad though. If it had been me, I would certainly have contacted Ebookers before doing anything else, to ask them definitively whether or not the payment had gone through.

I hope the situation turns out OK for you anyhow.
