HFC early DD payment requests

I'm in dispute with the HFC over a credit account on which they have requested the first few DD payments earlier than I had stipulated, run up instant arrears and levied £15 admin fees at will. Eventually started taking payment on correct date! Strikes me as particularly shady practice.

First complaint letter into Birmingham head office, we'll see where that gets me. All I've had to date is a spreadsheet printed onto headed paper not any explanation of the activity on the account. Any similar experiences out there. What's my next step if I get the usual level of custiomer service from HFC? Got the bit between my teeth but would appreciate any guidance / top tips.

HFC take their payments out at 6am and charge a £1 fee for card payments
