How is your fight with HFC going. I have a loan with HFC and I have been through hell because of them.
Firstly they refuse to send me statements or even don't tell me how much is left on the loan.
Also I must have filled in th direct debit form at leat 5 times and they never put it to action an keep calling me every month. I told them several times not to call me at work but they ignored that. Is there anything I can do to stop them calling me at work?
Also yesterday I got a call from them again as direct debit wasn't set up again and they demanded payment. I told them that I can only send a cheque as I lost my debit card. They said they will be sending someone to my work to collect the money as they can't wait. Being scared of these loan sharks I agreed and someone came to my office to take the cash. I asked for receipt ans he said he didn't carry receipts with him. I eventually got him to sign something.
Do you have any suggetions about how I can stop them calling my work, phoning my home and discussing the loan with my cleaner and getting them to send me information about the loan.
Thanks.
I would have pmed you but I thought others might be in similar situation and benefit from these questions.

Who is it chasing you - is it a Debt Collection Agency, if so who?

I would have pmed you but I thought others might be in similar situation and benefit from these questions. | If they keep ringing you send them a letter stating that you are only prepared to deal with the matter in writing, and they must cease phoning you or you will take action under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 and have them disconnected. In the event of more phone calls say the following:-
--- I am now taping the rest of this conversation: (Pause for effect) and I am putting you on notice, that I intend reporting you to the Office of Fair Trading, under Section 40 of The Administration of Justice Act 1970, for Harassment. Furthermore, I will from this point on, only communicate with you in writing and if I receive one more telephone call from you or your organisation, I will see that you face criminal proceedings under Section 2 of The Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and before you say anything further, you may be interested to know that your consumer credit license will not protect you from prosecution. Are we now absolutely clear on the matter

| | Site Team | Re: kotum45's thread They should not be visiting you place of work - and they should not be taking money without giving a receipt. It is very unprofessional, and I certainly think that Trading Standards would be interested.

I will use chrismc's suggestions too. I think I am going to call them myself and tell them not to call me at work again followed with the statement from chrismc. |

Some more information for you:-
The police WILL act if you report them for a breach of the 1997 Protection from Harassment Act. They will telephone or write to the offending company and you will be given a crime number.
This has little to do with the Wireless Telegraphy Act but more to do with Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 and possibly the Malicious Communications Act 1988.
Harrasment by telephone is illegal - log the calls, phone BT to confirm and then issue a summons.
