Default Claim against previous banks?

I only came across this information today, and I'm glad I did.

I have only been charged twice by my current bank in the past 6 months for going overdrawn (NatWest) I believe the charges were £38 each. Whereas I find this quite excessive the real issue that I have is my previous bank.

Not the most reliable customer at one point in my life I went overdrawn almost every month with the Halifax. I left them when I decided to sort my financial situation out and have a new relationship with a new bank.

I'm assuming that I can claim for these penalties from my previous bank, but I thought I'd better double check first before I waste my time.

In a nutshell. Can I claim for excessive charging from a bank that I am no longer a customer of?

Thatks for the speedy resonse.

Looks like I've got a lot of walking to do in town tomorrow, while I request a penalties statement from them all.

Oh well, it'll be the first time I've gotten money from talking to the banks (potentially).
