Default Urgent Advice Needed Please

Hi Everyone,
I have just been approached by one off my neighbours, she as the same mortgage lender as me, GE Money, I told her a while ago about this place, but unfortunatly she doesnt have a home computer,
Anyway, she as fallen behind with her mortgage repayments, 3 months I think a total of £1600, she as managed to pay £200 towards it, but a phone call from GE Money earlier today as got her really wound up, they want another £1000 before Mon 18th or the matter will go to litigation, she as offered to pay an extra £100 each month on top of her regular amount, but they have said no, she is at her wits end god bless her, I can offer moral support, but Im out my depth with any real advice, anyone any Idea what she can do, what do they mean my Litigation, is there still time to stop this, she is desperatly trying to get the money together but might take longer than 2 weeks, what should she do ?
I feel awful cos it was me that put her on to GE Money ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I would suggest that she needs proper support, no offence meant.

!st thing i would do is get her an appointment at CAB if they have a debt counsellor.

Second i presume she has defaulted on her mortgage because she is in financial trouble? It may be worthwhile talking to an organisation like payplan or cccs. Charitable trsuts that assist those in debt for nothing.

Or at least you dont pay directly they are funded by the banks and other financial organisations. dont worry i used payplan and they were very helpful.

HTH

glenn

PS seems to me that although the lenders can be right buggers, if you dont talk to them theres no chance of getting something sorted out. If she isnt talking to them they will get really nasty very quickly.
