Default Debt Less Than Charges But Now Owned By DCA

Ok I'm currently waiting for statements from A&L. I had a debt from a CC with them which is now owned by DL&C DCA agency. I also cca'd the DCA (their 12 days are up on tuesday!) I recently stopped a debt management scheme as the Debt Management company was making a lot of mistakes and generally fudging things up. I am now handling things myself and am continuing the same payments to all my creditors who have all reluctantly agreed. I'm having a bit of trouble with persuading DL&C to agree though. I have debt also with BOS and Cap One, both of which I have stopped paying too as the amount of charges I am claiming for is way more than the debt owed. I am wondering if I get my statements in (due this week according to A&L),and the debt is less than the charges even though the debt is owned now by someone else, should I still pay it or cease payments? I am also wondering if there is a standardised letter or maybe someone has drafted their own one to infrom a DCA that I am disputing the entire amount of the debt and back off? Or has anyone any other suggestions on how I can handle it?

I'd have a read of s10 of the Data Protection Act act and s13.6 of the Banking Code. That should give you a start.

This is a letter I sent to a DCA on 12th August:-

Please note that the outstanding balance on the above account is now in dispute with the original lender.

Consequently I no longer acknowledge any debt to your company. No further payments will be made to you by me, at least until the resolution of the dispute referred to.

Please, therefore, refrain from making any requests for payment, either in writing or by telephone, or taking any legal action to recover any alleged debt.

When I have a resolution to the dispute referred to, I will write to you again.

Luv
Elsinore

I haven't heard anything from them, not even an acknowledgement.
