Mortgage Co. giving wrong info to CRAs - what to do? My hubby recently applied for a credit card, but was turned down. His credit history is good, and he hasn't got excessive credit, late payments, etc. So I suggested getting his credit files from Experian and Equifax.
When we got them, we noticed that the status history on his mortgage showed as a "payment arrangement" or along similar lines (basically, a DMP). The problem is, he's never had an arrangement in place with the mortgage, and pays it in full and on time, every month.
We queried this with the mortgage co. and they said it was the CRA putting incorrect info on the report. So, we asked the CRA, and they said it was the mortgage co!!
My hubby lodged a dispute with the CRA, who have temporarily removed it, but what is to stop the incorrect info being put there again?
Also, I think this is the reason for the denial in "normal" credit, my hubby having to resort to a Capital One card with a 19.9% interest rate, and only £200 credit limit (what's the use??).
Can anyone suggest a way of resolving this once and for all, because we're being stung for interest that we shouldn't have to, and if he applies for a new mortgage, they're gonna look at this and have a laugh (interest rate above 7%!!).
