They have informed me that they have NO directions, from their Circuit Judge or higher, to stay bank charge claims so ALL claims and hearings are proceeding, as previously, and they are NOT automatically staying claims.
They have, however, recieved many requests from banks to stay claims (though NOT yet in my case!) and are dealing with these on an individual basis, again as previously.
Basically then, business as normal at Ipswich County Court.
Many thanks for this thread, ICY, and hope this info helps - Adam

Re: Find out here if your local court is staying claims
Bristol county court - claim filed 7/8/07 letter received a couple of days later with 2 dates on it - 7/8/07 and 8/8/07 stating that because of OFT test case the district judges have decided to stay all new cases.
Re: Find out here if your local court is staying claims
Carlisle Combined Court
My case - stay refused last Thursday, but judge said that in most cases stays are being granted to await outcome of OFT case and in the interests of justice.
Clerk told me that in instances where an application for stay had been received by the bank already, cases were being adjourned. I didn't ask about those adjournments, sorry, because my case was going ahead the next day.
Note for others: as soon as I received a letter from DG saying they were applying for a stay, I got the denial of request for stay letter in to court. My letter was there in the hearing already, they had to turn up in person to submit their application because of the short time before hearing. Use their backlog against them and keep getting cases in to court!

Re: Find out here if your local court is staying claims
I have just spoke to Canterbury Court and they are staying all cases are still going forward. As with Ashford Court the woman said all cases are still going to their hearings but they will all be stayed. Looks like it is a fight on my hands to try and not get a stay on my case then there will get back to you as they are on 15th and 16th respectively.

Re: Find out here if your local court is staying claims
Ashford County Court are staying claims if requested by the Bank, not automatically. However the DJ did instruct us to use the extra time to reach a settlement and told us she would award Wasted Costs against a party which refused.

Seems we are getting conflicting information from Ashford court staff!
Blazing-badger, could you post some more details on your case (on your own thread would be best I suppose). When was this? Did you attend a hearing? Did you attempt to resist a stay? Did you get anything in writing from court - if so, would you mind posting it? Any thoughts on how you are supposed to "reach a settlement"? Thanks.

I think u ought to copy the info & complain to OFT & FOS about this - they are obviously abusing the system! I've had the same thing happen but before my court hearing
