Question Administration charge for banks

Would it be legal to charge the bank a £35 administration fee for every letter we send them in the pursuit of OUR money.

Unlike the bank we actually sit down and write the letter, we actually use manual intervention.

Any ideas ?

Not if it got to court, I don't think. It's very likely that a judge would consider your actions as being just as unreasonable as the banks.

There is perhaps an arguement in relation to the contract being 2-way and thus what they charge you can be charged back, but since you are claiming that their cost is not a genuine estimate of actual costs, then this inflated figure would be just as bad - don't you think?

I do understand the concept by the way, but I don't think that would be the way to proceed. Get back what is yours without complicating things is your best bet.

You are entitled to recover the cost of the paper and stamps though. This is a quantifiable expense.

Retain all recipts though to support your claim. If you're paying £4.10 to send something special delivery to the bank, make the bank pay for it.
