Default Can I reclaim off a bankrupt company?

Hi...

My Girlfriend has paid a company over £2000 to renew her visa for her.

This company has gone bankrupt.

She has not yet got her visa or been told she can't have a visa and has to start again.

Is there anyway she is able to reclaim this money as she has not had the service completed?

Many thanks in adavance

Hi all!

Brindle,I was very sorry to read about your girlfriend's problem with a company that has gone bankrupt.

Before I attempt to help you, please answer the following question:

How did your girlfriend pay the £2000 by cheque, cash, debit card or credit card?

The answer to this question should hopefully enable me to assist you further.

There's nothing to stop you from joining the list of 'creditors' who would fall in line behind the Tax man, The banks etc etc.

I would have thought reclaiming £2000 from a bankrupt company is an unrealistic proposal.

I doesn't mean that you shouldn't join the list, but this looks bleak.

Follow the request above and let's see where we are.

Ouch... can't really offer much advice other than what's already been said.

I'm still owed £4000 from a firm that went bust in September. There's not a hope that I'll get all this back.

Make sure the insolvency company are aware that you are a creditor of the company.

I imagine that one of the reasons nightmare was asking how you paid, was related
to credit cards. Any amount over £100 will be repaid if the company goes bust before receiving your goods, or if the company is a complete scam.
