Any advice on council tax valuation tribunal

I am taking on Mid-Bedfordshire council regarding our council tax banding, which is E and if you look at what our house cost in 1998 which it was built, and the growth of property prices between 1991 and 1998 it should be at best a C at worst a D. They have dismissed my property price information from the land registry site and office of the deputy prime minister site as being "not representative" and have found their own "evidence" which is in their favour. My tribunal hearing is the 6th of June and they are trying to get me to withdraw my case. Has anyone had similar experiences? Has anyone any ideas on how to find better evidence?

I'd be interested in this, too. I have just moved house and it is currently a band E! It's a rural little bungalow and even by today's prices is worth sub £70,000.

I'd like to know how councils classify property. We're in a one bedroom (tiny) flat with allocated parking, renting from a private landlord and his (useless) letting agents. On our Tax bills we're classed as a Band C, and as I'm a student we get a 25% discount. However, that still leaves us paying £120pcm...which seems a bit excessive for the teensy size of the property we're in.
Oh, at least £20 of the above is 'for the Olympics', apparently. Sorry, but I've never seen a Walnut Whip worth £5 before, Kenny...
