Question Private dental treatment gone wrong can i claim money back?

Hi,

I have half a tooth as the other half came out last year. It was ok no pain. Then over the months since it happened i started getting pain. In the last few days this pain has got chronic and i almost passed out at work.

I went to a dentist yesterday and had the tooth filled in temporary. I had to pay £55 as not registered with dentist. Dentist said will be ok now no pain.

Well 7 hours later i took my first bite of some bread and it came out! I went back to same dentist this morning and explained situation to receptionist. She told me no dentist working today and gave me some numbers for emergency treatment.

Have now got nhs appointment later today with new dentist.

My question is can i claim my money back? I was given a service that didn't meet up to standards.

Please can someone advise?

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but I would imagine that because it was a temporary repair there is not much you can do. They are not designed to last unfortunately.

I've just been through 5 weeks of treatment to have a tooth repaired and 2 days after it was complete (while I was 5000 miles away ) it broke again! Fortunately they are repeating the work free of charge.

Thanks for the advice.

Just thought i had better find out as im quite angry and upset about it. It's awful because even though i'm going to see an nhs dentist later i'm going to have to pay again! Not as much but still i haven't got money to throw about.

Thanks again.

You only have a chance if your new NHS dentist can give you an expert statement regarding the false treatment of the private one.
Low chance I would say.
