Default Foreign Cheque Negotiation Fees

Can anyone please help me with some advice....

I am with HSBC and when I was at university about five years ago my father who lives in the USA would send me a monthly cheque (from Bank of America) to help out with study's, rent ect.

Whenever I paid one of these cheques into my bank account I recieved an £8 charge for them crediting my account. Can I put this into my claim?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyon!!
