Default Realplayer - downloading "clips"

I have just updated my free edition of Realplayer and have noticed that something comes up saying "download this clip". This is when, for example, you have a media clip playing (streamin online is it?).

I am just wondering how this works. I have free access to an online music player - you can play tracks of musical works but cannot download them. Well I couldn't before but I can now using this Realplayer thingy!

However, being the good boy I am, I have not chosen to download any tracks in case of copyright infringement. Question is - can I? I mean, is Realplayer paying whoever it is from where the track is downloaded? Or is it just copying it a la 1980s tape recorder, thereby leading people into temptation?

Hi gyzmo. Yes you can download all the clips you find and on YouTube as well. You must have Realplayer Gold, downlaoder is incorporated in that.

When you have done the download, takes seconds because you have already buffered it, use a converter you change it to Wmp. I use Moyea, free if you google it.
Once in Wmp format then you can upload it to a most anywhere.

As Conniff says, use Moyea to do this downloading, then ditch RealPlayer altogether and install Real Alternative.
This free piece of software will easily play all RealPlayer files, without being packed with spyware and adware. RealPlayer has long been one of the worst offenders for installing unsolicited junk on your PC, whether you know about it or not, so there really is no reason not to remove it from your system.

Oh, and do the same to Quicktime and acquire Quicktime Alternative while you're at it.

And this downloading is legal? Its basically a subscription service that I can access gratis. You can listen to CDs online but cannot download them unless a premium is paid. This Realplayer seems to bypass that - and it's legal? If so then oooh! My music collection is about to double in size!
