Default Stairlift advice needed!

My elderly parents have decided it is time for them to have a stairlift installed and are talking about £4K. Does anybody have any advice or can recommend a reputable company as obviously I don't want to see them ripped off by a pushy salesman! Many thanks for any help.

My father got a grant from the local council to pay for his and the council recomended the firm - might be worth exploring the options with the council/social services before they spend their hard earned money.

Thank you Poppynurse for that info! Not sure if they will qualify as they have a bit saved away but worth a try anyway. Will try and persuade them to call and enquire.

Definitely try for a grant- through your local Council. Referral would be needed through an occupational therapist or through Social Work.

There are several large manufacturers.

Watch for contract conditions however, particularly reguarding future maintenance arrangements and also, their buy back policy. Most give very little back if you ever need to trade them in.

Good luck.
