If you funded it through a credit card then contact them and request a charge-back. Otherwise you are stuffed....paypal are a law unto themselves!!

Open a new ebay account with a throwaway email address and do some serious bidding on his items. Just don't go to the checkout.

Of course, should it be worked out who it was, you would put your genuine account in danger of being closed. It would also not cause any real damage to the seller - just a little inconvenience in having to cancel bids, or relist.

I've been on the other end of thsi - a buyer claimed non-delivery and I lost the recorded delivery slip so Paypal refunded him straight away from my paypal account. They said it was their policy to refund any claim of non-receipt without any proof of delivery.

I'm not sure what happens if they have no money in their account though.

I was in a similar situation to cornflake, lost the Special Delivery slip and PayPal whipped £120 out of my account when I only had about £10 in there and started to send me nasty e-mails asking me to put funds in to bring it into the black. Fortunately I found the slip and got my money back (it took about 3 months though and they ended up suspending my account).
