Default AEG Santos fridge Freezer **SORTED**

Hi,I joined this forum after searching for adivice regarding our fridge Freezer which is now 3 years old and the fridge started acting like a freezer.
We bought the appliance from a local shop (which also provides power in this part of Scotland) The appliance has an LED display which for the past month instead of showing the temp has displayed a small square which according to the handbook means there is a fault and to contact an engineer. A search on the internet of this display has revealed at least 3 other people who have had the same fault.
I contacted the shop and sent them a letter after 7 days I ws told the letter was being sent to an area manager who after another 7 days `phoned me to say that they are not responsable for any repairs as this is not covered under the sale of goods act and anyway that act is now superceded by another act? He also said that he is unwilling to reply to me in writing regarding this matter.

I have attempted to contact the service engineer in this area to give me an indication of whats wrong and how much to repair but have had no reply. In the meantime we are still without a fridge.
And on examining the reciept I find that I paid for the goods on a credit card.
What happens now?

All sales of goods and services are covered by The Sale of Goods Act 1984 (as amended). He is BS'ing you. If they are unwilling to reply in writing, then send them a "Letter Before Action" informing them that you have repeatedly attempted to get them to accept their responsibilities under the Sale of Goods Act 1984 (as amended) and that they have failed to do so. Unless they refund you in full and collect the fridge freezer within 7 days, you will take action in the county courts against them without further notice.

When nine days has gone by (giving them time to receive the letter and then another 7 days) start a claim in the County Court. We'll help you fill in the forms right here.

Result!!
Fridge freezer repaired by supplier.
just for info I e-mailed AEG who stated that they expect this particular model to last at least 7 years, however i searched some of the enironmental protection sites who have carried out studies for landfill etc. they state that the average fridge freezer lasts from 10 to 15 years it was these reports that I used in my letters to the supplier.
