Default Asda giving money away.

I wasn't sure where to put this little piece of info or even if anyone would be interested. But,here goes...I shop at asda most of the time, but wherever i do my food shopping i always check the receipt before i leave..Nearly every time they have made a mistake & overcharged me..When i went to the customer services dept at asda to let the member of staff sort out 'again' this mistake, she did so & then gave me a gift card & muttered something about £2.00. I looked at her confused & took the card thinking i had missheard her. It turns out that asda now have a policy of giving you a gift of £2.00 everytime you are inadvertantly overcharged at the checkout..I only glimpsed over the policy whilst being on their website earlier,it also says it will give you £2.00 everytime your undercharged too..

Hey thanks for this information, really good to know.
Not as good as tesco offer though. I think at tesco if they overcharge you for a product they give you a full refund and let you keep the item for free.

Hey thanks for tip,its always good to know these little snippets of info...im going to asda tonight to see if they will exchange a diamond ring which i bought around 6 months ago. The diamond has cracked which is strange when theyre supposed to be so tough? I dont have the receipt so it could be tricky,it does have a GA in the hallmark which im thinking may mean George at Asda. Its worth a go!

To be honest, Asda always seem to be good at returns and usually have a good customer service policy so you should be in luck.

I have worked on Customer service at Tesco and it is right, if you are over charged you get a full refund on the item plus get to keep the item. when i worked there we got the usual Christma chocs in, after Christmas we had them on sale but who ever put the info into the computer sytem messed up & when they were scanned at the till it came up -2p so it was knocking 2p off your bill & the chocs were free.

sorry guys (ozzywizard & julie1961)
I keep gettin lost & cant find my way back..
I think thats why im one of not many who like the supermarket shop. The staff i find are helpful as are the customer services & at the checkouts like when ever theres a problem or a queue they tend to give the stuff away..that happened last week when they couldnt read the reduced sticker, the superviser was called & she said to just give me the mushroom stroganoff..

Oh my word!
thanks for that little tip,i managed to get straight back here..
just to let you all know i was successful in returning the ring. They offered to exchange it but i asked for the money to be put on a card to spend at a later date, which they aggreed to. This has really cheered me up because i never liked the ring (women) & i couldn't have sold it on as it was damaged. Thankyou asda! No mistakes at the till though haha

To be fair most of the supermarkets have a very good exchange or return policy & sometimes go beyond what they need to. Like i said I work on the customer service at Tesco for quite some time but I have also worked for the asda & they both had good return policies. I have only ever had a back experience with a return & it was a TV i bought from Comet for my daughter, it worked for a couple of days then became faulty, they tried to fob me off & said i could only have it fixed. I stood my ground though & they eventually gave me my money back. Now if i want anything electrical i buy from Tesco's.

ASDA have always done this - previously it was a gift voucher, now replaced by the card system. Not only to they give you £2 if they got it wrong, I once reported they'd underpriced an item after beer went through at 1p ber bottle (I bought 10). Convinced it was wrong I took it to customer services who agreed they HAD made a pricing mistake, however they game me a £2 gift card for bringing it to their attention, and let me keep the beer at the purchased price. Add to this they'll price match any competitor's offer, I'll not go anywhere else!
