Cash advance fees on a positive Visa balance

Just been stung by First Direct for £122. Moving £6,100 of a positive balance from my Visa card to my current account.

Done it in the past, never been charged, even rang to ask if there was a charge the first time I did it and was told no.

Rang to query the charge. Was told it was discretionary. Doesn't sound like a transparent or legal charging structure.

Anyone got a view as to whether it falls into the same category as overdraft and bounced cheque fees or the like?

I would ask them for a full explanation of how they have applied their charges and also ask to see a copy of the T's and C's.
