Default Another can't cancel sky !

Slightly differnet to the other post.

On the 15/05/08 i moved my telephone, broadband and television to cable. On the 22/05/08 I contacted sky to cancel the same 3 services with them.
I was then surprised at the end of June to recieve a letter stasting i owed sky an outstanding ammount for june and for the television service in july.

I called sky cancellations who confirmed that the service had telephone and broadband had been cancelled on the 22/05/08 but not the television service.
I requested that this again be cancelled and was transfered to customer services , who advised me they are unable to cancel until the bill including the month in advance be paid and that they have no record of me calling in to cancel even though the other 2 services were cancelled. I refused to pay and have now recieved a letter threatening me with the account being sent to a debt agency.

Does anyone have any advise on this !

Good luck with that. Same thing happened to me where they "had no record of my cancellation" even though the 2nd guy I spoke to could see it on the screen... They hounded me for years, passing the debt from DCA to DCA for the sake of £45, even though I begged them to take me to court to get it over and done with. The alleged debt is now statute-barred, but I still get the odd bottom-feeder DCA trying it on.

I would write to them and say that since you did cancel the other 2 services, it should be quite obvious that the 3rd not cancelled is down to one of their operator's mistake, that you don't owe them a penny and that if they want the money, they'd better be ready to take you in court, and that the next communication from them had better be either a court claim form or a letter to confirm they have now cancelled the monies outstanding due to their mistake, either will do you just fine.

Same as you BW. I cancelled with six weeks notice but they still decided I had an outstanding bill.
I just ignored the dca bumf and haven't heard from them for years.
