The only other way would be to lie about when the incident happened. This is not advocated here, and if you did do this the insurer will simply see that the damage has "aged" and will reject the claim anyway. In such a case, as a fraudulent claim has been attempted, they could very well collect all you premiums and cancel cover immediately.
Another aspect is that you have a duty to notify your insurers of anything that could give rise to a claim, regardless of whether you intend to claim yourself, so you certainly need to notify Norwich Union anyhow.
Finally, it has been a while since I last worked in insurance. The advice I gave before was generalised. I am not aware of DL or other insurers allowing vandalsim claims without affecting your NCD or the policy. If this is the case, it could be that NU offer a similar provision. You will need to check your policy, but there is also an insurance forum on here which has a Nowich Union sub forum.
It may well be worth posting there for a more definitive answer on taht particular matter.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Norwich union vandalism claim Ricey,
Frequently the insurer will also require such damage to be reported to the Police before dealing with a claim such as this.
Bottom line, as Gyzmo has said, witholding the claim until you are with a new insurer as outlined and then claiming is out and out fraud and given that you will probably have to make a fraudulent Police statement as well only compounds the crime(s) as well.
Do bear in mind that even claiming now will be subject to your policy excess as well.
I would VERY seriously advise against this course of action and do bear in mind that this is a public forum and insurance industry staff do view the same, including myself!
