Default Visa Debit

Hi everyone I'm new, so a big hello from me.

I have bought a scooter from an online company, recieved it assembled it and it don't work. Come Tuesday when I tell them this I.m not sure if I am going to have a problem on my hands. Purchased it with Visa Debit I have been reading that visa debit has the same chargeback rules as visa credit, phone halifax they don't seem to think so. I am going to ring visa and see what they say. Meantime can anyone shed any light, wisdom and info on this situation.

Any thoughts greatfully recieved

Hi Raylea

If this is still within seven days of purchase then you can just return it as not wanted under the seven days distance selling rules.

Before making any attempt at a chargeback you should contact the company and ask for a replacement.

Thanks, I will be contacting them Tuesday, I purchased it Sunday just gone, but obviously it is Easter weekend so I couldn't do anything today, will the seven days distance selling rule still count. I recieved it Wednesday and it cost nearly £900. Also they stated they cut out the middle man and get them straight from the manufacture, but know where does it state they are chinese is this right (only found out it was imported when i opened the box)

Yes, the seven days start from the day of receipt.

If is a UK company trading in the UK, where they get their stock from is of no consequence.

Halifax are trying it on, however as there is no time limit on this, let the supplier arrange to sort it out. Providing you've told them of the problem you should be OK, unless you simply want to walk away from it, in which case send it back (at your cost) and get a receipt from the carrier (and make sure it is covered for loss.

There is chargeback on a Visa Debit Card Raylea. I have just put a link on another thread by someone who seems to be having a similar problem with debit card chargeback.

BBC NEWS | Programmes | Working Lunch | Visa debit card refunds

If you have no joy with the company getting redress then do a chargeback, but go through the proper motions before that, they might just fall over themselves to assist you.
Not all traders are the same.
