Default Double glazing installation help

Could someone please help me put together a letter - basically I had my double glazing installed last oct and since then they have been back 5/6 times to rectify all the problems. I have been withholding money until everything is rectified (which it still isnt as there are still major cosmetic issues). They have written me a threatening letter now stating that if they do not receive full payment within 7 days then it will go to court. Is it the sale of good act that I am covered under and does it make a big difference that I am with holding payment?

No.
You are perfectly entitled to retain monies until the work is done to a satisfactory standard.

However I would suggest that you engage, as a matter of urgency, the services of a good building surveyor so as to determine the extent of the problems you are & or will suffer in the future as a result of the, what must be, shoddy work.

Incidentaly, I may be wrong as I don't know which firm you mean but, I doubt very much that they will want to instigate court action against you when you must have grounds for compensation from them.

In the meantime write & tell them you do not accept that their work is yet of a satisfactory standard & that you intend employing an independent expert to determine the extent of the faults & work that is needed to rectify them.

In addition state that should they continue with their threat of litigation you will vigorously defend any such action.

& send EVERTHING Special Delivery & whatever you do DON'T talk on the phone. Demand EVERTHING in writing

brill thanks - I will name and shame this time too....its Windor grrrrrr

what really gets me is that they have said that I am refusing entry to the property. Ok so due to work commitments I cant jump to their dates and it has to be a sat every time but thats not the point at all unless they want me to start charging them for my hours too!!
