Hi all,
I noticed a couple of posts concerning Sky TV and thought I'd ask for some advice on something that arose today.
Back in October 2000 myself and my ex-wife went our separate ways. She stayed in the marital home and I stayed with any friend I could find with a spare bed. Anyway, among other things, I wrote to Sky and cancelled my subscription as I couldn't afford it with what was about to follow. I then cancelled the DD with the bank. My ex would occasionally pass on mail to me but I never did get anything from Sky so I promptly forgot all about it.
Today, almost 6 years down the line, I get a letter from Leeds-based Lowell Financial, asking for £181 on behalf of Sky
Obviously I have moved on since then but they somehow traced me to my present address - I understand DCA's and the like have access to the full electoral roll but I find that little disturbing.
Where do I stand with this after all this time? I don't have a copy of the cancellation letter I sent Sky or proof of posting or receipt. If they acknowledged my letter, I never received their acknowledgement. I don't believe they have made any effort to contact me themselves - Lowell managed to find me so why shouldn't Sky?
£181 is a lot of money when you don't have it, and more so when you don't believe you owe it. I admit I'm concerned about this as I could do without court proceedings but I can't really afford to roll over and pay up either. Where do I go from here?
