Accident in Toys R Us

Hello, I hope I have the right area for this query. My daughter who is 4 and I went into Toys R Us in Lincoln today. My daughter was looking at the toys on the shelves and fell onto a box that was by the shelves. The corner of the box caught her in the chest resulting in broken skin and bruising. After going and picking her up off the floor, I noticed that there were lots of boxes lined up by the shelves on many of the ailses (spell), I spotted an employee and told him that I wasn't happy about what had happened and that surely health and safety was not being adhered to. I asked to speak to a floor manager. He said that it was perfectly alright to have boxes lined up by the shelves as long as they were not in the path of customers. But the box my daughter fell on obviously was, or she wouldn't have fallen!. I have tried to attach photos of the set up, but have no idea how to download them off my computer. Can you tell me if they are spinning me a line, if so, who do I contact. Many thanks

Sorry, but surely it is your responsibility to supervise your children. From what you say I honestly don't think they have done anything wrong whatsoever.

Toys 'R' Us do have a duty of care to all visitors to their premises.

We would need more information from the OP such as position/location of shelves, where the boxes were before the accident in order to comment further. Pics would be useful.

You will need to upload to a hosting site such as imageshack or photobucket, and then click on the "picture" icon in the WYSIWYG editor and type (or paste) the picture's url into the box

I worked for Toys R Us briefly (6 months) and the shop floor policies at my particular store were quite strictly adhered to - I remember it being so because other policies in different areas were not. When putting out stock, boxes and trolleys had to be spaced so that 'a double buggy or large wheelchair' could get through. Boxes went on one side or the other of an aisle, against the lower shelves of stock; this is usually only during the evening and night shifts, though, as they don't like stock out during the day. Trolleys were not left unattended in case a child climbed on them, and the boxcutters were either being used to cut a box, or welded to your hand or pocket - leaving a boxcutter out would get you in real, 'written' trouble, even though they were 'safety' cutters.
That was the working policy for shop-floor at that particular store - does that differ from your experience in any way?
