Small claim against ex-employer for breach of contract?

I was working for a company from Aug 04 - Jul 05. My contract was terminated for taking too much time off. However the company did not follow their t & c's as set out in the contract of employment i.e. they issued me with a final written warning without first issuing a verbal or written warning. The t & c's clearly stated that the correct disciplinary procedure should be followed except in the case of gross misconduct - which my case clearly wasnt.
The only thing im concerned about is that i didnt supply sick lines for all my absenses which could be construed also as a breach of contract?

The contract was a one year fixed term contract, which was terminated one month from completion. Basically i would like to claim the months wages i am owed from this company in the region of 1500 pounds.

Any advice?
