Angry Proof of Purchase

Hi there, I bought a preowned game from Game Station last Tuesday (4th Sept). On looking at it when I got home, even I could see it was scratched to heck , but also reilized that I'd lost the receipt! However, I have kept the game STation sticker on the cover of the game, I still have the Game Station bag, and I have My Mum, my brother and my friend as witness. Would they do as proof of purchase? CHeers.

Joe - Hi,

I think you may have posted this to the wrong forum, this is the bank stuff, the consumer thing is a nanoclick up the list. You can either PM a MOD or site helper to move it or just re-post on that forum

How did you pay for it? if you paid by card, you could take a copy of the transaction, and that would be sufficient proof.

And if not, you could try taking it back anyway. They won't be obliged to give you a refund without proof of purchase, but as it has the sticker on and is obvious you bought it from there they may well give you a refund or store credit - no harm in trying.

You say it was 'preowned?'

In that case I believe that no refund would have to be honoured anyway.

Well surely if you bought a preowned shirt, and on inspection, it had a rip, you'd be able to return it?

Merged both your threads.

If pre-owned, it still has to be playable. I have just returned 2 games to Cex which were pre-owned and when DS got home, they wouldn't play, as they were scratched to hell. Took them back no problems.

I gather that if an item is preowned, or second hand, then certain imperfections should be expected as it isn't new. On that basis to return something that is maybe scratched, but still playable, then a refund isn't payable.
Is it playable Joe?

No. If it was sold as preowned then one would assume you pay less than if it were new.

You are buying the item-imperfections included.

Oh. Anyways, no. It's not playable at all- just comes up with 'disk couldn't b read'. I'll see what I can do when I next go into town. I'd b fine with scratches if it still worked, but it's totally unplayable.
