Poor kitchen installation, help needed! Hi, I am new to this forum and wondered if anyone can help? We purchased a new kitchen from a quite well known "upmarket" kitchen company. The works included, planning and design, preparation including all new electrics, all units and appliances and fitting for the sum of £31K. Now the issue I have is not what we paid because we did go to town but it is the service that we received. Issues: We stipulated that the cost we wanted to pay was no more than £25K but they kept adding extras on and I felt they purposely left parts out of the contract to do this. I managed to get a £1000 off but this still did not bring us close. Misleading contracts, forcing us on one hand to pay full 100% up front but where as the contract says we can hold back 5% (they refused to coniue work without this 5% whichleft us with no kitchen. They informed us it would take about 8 weeks from date of signing to complete the fitting. It took 20 weeks. Some days they didnt even turn up. Workman ship through out was poor at times to say the least, I have pictures of some of the mistakes they made. On the day of completion, they left saying all work was finished and everything was tested ok, only to find a faulty washing machine, that was another week. They failed to issues the NIEIC certifiction, only for us two find they broke two electrical guidelines, firstly not locating isolation switches correctly and the second leaving junction boxes on the ground, note we had a flood which this could of caused serious issues. Contracted to provide a tumble dryer and then telling us its not available and it is now our issue not theirs. Chase them for the electrical safety survey to be completed during main survey and issue final electrical safety part P certificate Scratch to front ABS edge of flyover RHS of tall housing fridge freezer runs out 4mm 2 x adjustable shelves for tall broom cupboard not ordered, they questioned me and said they believed I did not order them, it proved to be their mistake Tube Lighting broken in our garage, they left broken glass on the floor without informing us. In the end they finally resolved all issues with the exception of issues around prep work. They led us to believe that walls would be plastered and then they said things like this was not included. The last straw was last week we had a flood. It woudl seem the connection they made betwen the mains feed and the pipe work they installed was not tightened correctly and had worked loose over the past 4-5 months. I now have a flooded downstairs and have to make a claim on insurance. At the moment they are offerring to cover this with their own insurance. In summary, they have put everything right (almost) but it has taken us 10 months to get here and it has been a lot of pain heart ache and arguments. For a sum of £31k I would not expect this level of service and wish to know whether I would have a claim against them to sue them for poor workmanship, customer service and really the time & effort & stress they have caused us. Apart from one meeting with the MD, he has chosen not to reply to all my correspondance. Can anyone help?
