Unhappy Re: Peugeot 307SW Clutch & Flywheel Problems

Well, have done 8000 miles on the new flywheel and clutch and have just started noticing a slight shrill if the the clutch biting point is taken up a bit abruptly but am hoping it will stay that way! Now got groaning and occasional creaking noises from the the front, possible shock/driveshafts! mainly noticed when reversing on full lock off my drive but comes and goes! Been inspected twice and both garages cant find anything wrong and say it will probably have to get worse before it can be pinpointed! I am a driving instructor and i hear it every day and is most disconcerning! its only got 37000 miles on the clock! Why do cars fall apart so quickly now, i remember doing 80-100,000 miles in cars before anything needed doing!

Hi all, I see that this issue is still ongoing. Just for your info (and after reading all your posts), I have just got Peugeot to replace the DMF on my partners 307 110HDi at labour cost only ie Peugeot to pay for all parts. The billl cost £350.00 but that was also what I was quoted by local garages. It took a few emails and also quoting this web site to finally get them to agree to the repair. i did try to get it all done but I suppose a £350 bill is better than the original quote of over £800.
Good luck everyone and keep on trying to get Peouget to at least contribute to what is a known fault.
PS The clutch and flywheel has been replaced for a standard setup ie they have ditched the DMF!!!!!!

Nice one thisnthat. I did say last year sometime that the flywheel setup could be changed for a normal one. Available at the scrappy for not very much, but I would always recommend a new clutch kit to go with it.

HI folks, Just to say thank you for all your posts re. 307 Flywheels I took my wife’s 307 sw 04 plate 110bhp for it 5th birthday service, it has only done just over 12000 miles and has sounded like a tractor for the last year it also often squeaked when the engine was switched off.
I asked the local pug dealer to have a listen and to report what he thought was the cause, he told me it was a noisy flywheel, I asked what could be done and he said he would ask Peugeot to replace due to the low mileage, this car was sold new with a 3 year warranty, so I wasn’t hopeful.
I checked out your posts and learnt of the possible 5 year warranty on the flywheel , so I returned to speak to the manager the next morning, he confirmed that there was a 5 year warranty and he had it in hand. I had a phone call to say Peugeot have agreed to replace the flywheel and clutch and that they now use a standard flywheel, the 5 years is up tomorrow so fantastic news and it is being fitted the day after. Here’s hoping all goes well, thanks again folks for all your posts.
Ps. If you live in Leicester use the main dealer.

My 52 plate 307 hdi 90 has started developing a problem too which i would think is a clutch / DMF abot to go, a constant squeaking and grinding noise when i enage the clutch.

Now its touching 90,000 miles and its the first fault on the car since i bought it at 58,000 miles, so its done well for me and presumably for previous owners, although i bought it without a service history (big big gamble on a 307 i know). im not that suprised about the parts failing because they were at the end of their life anyways.

my question.. if this goes into a Peugeot dealership will they use brand new parts or recondition the old ones? if its the latter i will just use my local mechanic and parts from a scrapper.
