Thumbs up Car parts replaced under Manu warranty-reclaiming labour costs

INFORMATION-My van failed MOT due to wishbone arm needing replaced. Wishbone was still under manu warranty due to being replaced within the last year. Took it back to garage who fitted it and was told manu warranty only covered part and not labour to fit it (would not even come to an agreement over reduced cost for labour) - paid labour, but made known I was very unhappy and wanted manu contact details to try to reclaim labour charge as was not my fault part needed replaced. Part sent back to manu through autoshop who supplied garage. Manu agreed part faulty and autoshop have paid me back my labour costs with no argument from either them or manu!!! IN SUMMARY - IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU PRESS FOR YOUR MONEY BACK, PART NEEDING REPLACED NOT YOUR FAULT. Once I took the problem outwith the garage and their "nothing to do with us" attitude, I have not had any trouble. BTW just to top it off, I had the usual "what does a woman know" attitude from the garage!!!!

Well done, sounds like the auto-shop came to your rescue, that's good service.

However the garage were not entirely wrong. Genuine OE manufacturers fitted parts usually come with a warranty which includes labour if the failed part is replaced by a Dealer.

Parts supplied by an Auto-shop or equivalent are usually covered only by the parts warranty and do not include labour. The labour is usually covered by the original fittee (if that's even a word!!)

Most business's would do it under goodwill and just write off the labour involved.

You did good though.
