Default Carcraft - salesman lied to me !

I bought a new car from Carcraft Merseyside in December 2007; not 'new' new, but new to me. It was a 2002 Toyota Celica, and while the salesman was showing me round the car he pointed out that 'This car has parking sensors'. He then crouched down and pointed at two cylindrical humps in the rear bumper, saying 'There they are'. These sensors have never worked, although there is an audible 'beep' when reverse gear is engaged.

Today I took the car back to have the problem fixed, only to be told that the car is not equipped with parking sensors. I sat with the general manager and the salesman in question, and recounted the story; the conversation that followed went like this:
Me: This salesman told me that I had parking sensors on my car, and not it appears that it was not true.
Salesman: I don't remember, but if there are little round things on the back bumper, then it has.
Me: Well there are, and you did say it.
Manager: So are you calling my salesman a liar
Me: Yes, I am'. Turning to the salesman, I said 'You are a liar.

At this point the two of them headed off to the workshop to inspect my car. On their return, the salesman told me 'No Toyota Celica has parking sensors fitted as standard, so I couldn't have told you that it had them'
Odd that he didn't say that before going to the workshop with his boss!

Manager: This man knows more about cars than anyone here, even me. So I don't believe that he would have told you something like that about the car.
Me: Well obviously you guys are going to band together and back eachother up, so basically you're right and the customer is wrong - it that it?
Manager: I'm not calling you a liar, I just don't believe what you're telling me.
Me: So how can we resolve this? I'm calling him a liar and you're calling me a liar; where do we go from here?
Manager: I don't know what else to tell you because it obviously didn't happen the way you said, I think you're getting confused with another car you might have looked at'

I made my excuses and left. Its my word against the salesman, backed up by his boss and probably the whole Carcraft organisation if needed.
I didn't get his comments in writing at the time - why would I have?
Any thoughts?

Audible beep, in most cases this does mean parking sensor activated. Are you sure there are no sensors, no wiring from bumper into bodywork.

None that I can see, no. The salesman and his boss both told me that the beep is merely a warning that reverse gear is engaged. I guess this might be true, because there are no levers or buttons to release to get into reverse, it is selectable like any other gear.
Doesn't alter the fact that he lied to me though !

I called Toyota UK and gave them the car's registration number, they looked it up and put me on to the dealer who took delivery from the factory.
No celica was manufactured with rear parking sensors fitted as standard, although it was offered as an option; they weren't fitted to my car.
So that clears up that little mystery, but still leaves the fact that I was lied to by the salesman, and basically I bought a facility that I didn't get. Its my word against his, so I suspect that I will have to allow myself to be walked all over by the big, bad dealership.
IS there anything I can do about it? I feel that I was mis-sold the car, but they are now denying that the conversation ever took place, and I can't prove otherwise.
I don't want my money back, but compensation for the facility I didn't get would be nice.
