Hello Everybody!
I'm new to the forums but have been reading various threads and am very impressed with the excellent advise that is given.
My problem is that i have recently Voluntary Terminated my HP agreement with First Response Finance, which may i add is after reading some of the threads here, which were very good, and very helpfull.
Everything was going releativley smoothly or be it abit sluggish on there part to start off with, the VT was accepted as i only had £20 to bring up to half the required amount, i accepted that the GAP insurance is my liability to pay and arranged to pay over three instalments by DD, arranged for them to send somebody to inspect the vehical, this was done by BCA, the chap who came was very nice and proceeded to check all the documents and the vehical. The vehical has been kept in the same condition as i bought it in by myself, with exception of a couple of door marks made by other peoples lack of respect in car parks, and a stone chip which i was not aware of, as it has happened recently while the vehical has been left on the drive, all other small marks where on the car when i purchased it. Then the shock!!
The chap from BCA when notifying me of his findings pointed out and proceeded to tell me that the tailgate of the vehical had been in an accident at some point and was in fact 40% filler, he then showed me the finishing marks that the repairers had left, which to me just looked like polish or t-cut marks i'm not a body repair person so i wouldn't know. He had this little device that could tell paint depth and showed me that the reading should be 130ish and that on the tailgate it was reading over 1000 which he did show me.. at this point not only shocked i became abit angry

as First Response told me when i purchased the vehical that they were sending someone to check the car, should they of not picked this up?
A few days later First Response sent me a copy of the report for my vehical with a price list and a demand for payment to correctly repair the damage to the tailgate and rear bumper, also various other tiny marks such as the door marks that they originally told me would be classed as general wear and tear, and the chip in the windscreen. I acknowledge that the chip in the windscreen is my liability, but cannot be responsible for damage caused to the vehical before i purchased it. can I?

The cost they are quoting me is £717 this includes VAT.
Can anybody please help and advise? Thanks!
