Default Vauxhall Probs

Hi Guys
To cut a long story short
I took me car Astra gsi turbo 2003 to vauxhall to have it cambelt & rollers chnaged, But when i got it bk the engine had a really loud knocking noise when cold
I Took the car bk to them and they say it could be the cam or the tappets on it but they aint even looked at it ust left it on the car park , they also said the engine was knocking when i brought it into them
The car has only done 46k and was in perfect working order before i took it to them
Any idea on how to proceed as i think they have damaged me car? and i cannt use it anymore as afraid it is knacked now

Noises like this can appear if the cambelt has been fitted one tooth out.

As you took it to a Vauxhall garage (wisely for a car like this), you would expect expert attention.
Ask to see the workshop manager first off and see what he is prepared to do.

All dealerships are franchises and as such have a duty to the original manufacturer not to bring their name into disrepute.
This is obviously a case of poor workmanship and should be reported to the general manager of the dealership.

Tell him why you took the car to them and the condition it was in on return. Mention to him that due to their lack of care and skill you were without the car for two weeks and the cost to you of not having the car for this period and ask him to reimburse you for this amount.

If he replies that it was not their responsibility you can inform him that you will be writing to Vauxhall and detailing their lack of professionalism and skill.

Manufacturers do take the bringing of their name into disrepute seriously.
About 12 years ago a local Rover dealership lost it's franchise through such complaints to the Rover car company. Needless to say, without the backing of the manufacturer this garage closed for business a couple of years later.
