Angry Car didn't get done, but we did!!!

My fella took the car to the local garage for a service & MOT, but when we got it back, it was worse than when it went in. A week later he took it back to the garage, they had it for nearly a week, & it seems as though they haven't done anything to it, but it still cost £550 for a new clutch. In the end he had to go under the bonnet & cleaned the air intake valve & put new spark plugs in, & it's much better than before, & that cost just £25. It also came back with odd front tyres (when it went in they were identical).

Ask them where the old ones went.

Would you of contended to the switch?

If not then by law ...... are depriving you of identical car tires.

Oh do you keep track of your miles on your car?

Within a half hour of bringing it home, he said that the one of tyres had be exchanged, so as I always keep receipts, he rang the garage, & they denied changing it. He told them that he had the receipt in his hand for the tyres, & said that there was definitely 2 identical tyres at the front.
Yes we always keep an eye on the mileage.

They haven't simply rotated the wheels around the car as part of the service have they...?

No, we have given the car a good look round. There is a tyre missing without any doubt. As for it having a service, the only thing that got done was us, it has nothing but problems since we brought it home, our Vectra or any other car, that we will have, will never go back to that garage.

I would defo contact trading standards about these jokers if they have not done the work you could try taking them to court, but not sure how you would start off. I am sure more knowledgable peeps can advise.
Good Luck

We found - or should I say, my step sons friend has a friend who is a mechanic, so my OH went to the garage where he works, told him what happened, he had a good look about the car & said that he would do everything that had to be (re)done, & all the other stuff that was urgent for a fraction of the cost that the other garage would have charged. The car is now safe to drive, the brakes were down to the metal, & had definitely had not been touched for the MOT.

We haven't been to trading standards, but we are spreading the word to all our friends, by advising them not to go to the place we used to go to. We will be most definitely be going back to this lad, he has been a godsend.
