Default Taking employers to the civil court

Does anybody know or have experience in taking an employer to the civil court under The Protection Of Harassment Act? I have been bullied by different members of staff of my employers for the last 1.5 years. I have evidence of the bullying and less favourable treatment.

Have anyone got contacts of a good solicitor that would look at the case (under the above act)? Any help or advice would be great... I know this is an expensive route to go down but the Tribunal will not deal with bullying/harassment alone, so I don't know what other option I have. Acas and Citizens Advice are really useless.

This is interesting.

Am I correct in thinking that this was a recent news item/newspaper article where this was suggested as a way of tackling this particular problem in the workplace?

Hi, yes have a look at these links:

Another string added to the employee’s bow - IDS Employment Law Brief

When a boss turns into a bully | Society | The Guardian

Workplace harassment - TLT Solicitors

Test whether civil harassment has occurred - Times Online

Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (c. 40)

Please give me your thoughts on this, I know its an expensive route (thre reason there are not many cases like this) but depends just how strongly you feel about pursueing it.

Well jemms, it's another tool to use.

Why not report the matter to the police and see what they say? It is also a criminal offence.

Failing that try and get a free initial interview with a solicitor and put your issues.

Also, do you have home insurance? You could be entitled to free legal help.

Good luck.

Thanks for your advice, I am trying to find a solicitor that will give me an initial assessment. With it being a newish ruling I've not come across many, so thought someone here may have a good contact (I'm wary of solicitors, would rather go with a recommendation). Don't have insurance, and the trade union are no help

I doubt the police can do much, the bullying/harassment is being carried out by the senior managers, best way to deal with these people is the legal route so if you come across anyone good please let me know. Thanks for your advice/
