| | Platinum Account Customer | conflict between managers impacting on staff Hello,
I wonder if anyone could offer me any advice on a nasty incident I had at work this morning. I don't usually work Saturdays however because I was out of holiday and had to take a day off a couple of weeks ago, I agreed to make the time up today.
I work in a call centre and was aware the people who work on Saturday are usually gathered together around the manager on duty, however due to my desk being set up for various helath problems I was assured by my own manager I could remain at my usual desk.
I got into work this morning and was asked to move desks, I confirmed my own manager had assured me I would not have to do this. I was then asked who my manager was, when I named her it was met with a dismissive shrug and I was advised I would still have to move. I confirmed my health concerns and advised that since I was making up time and did not *need* to do it today I would now do it during the week because I was not willing to sit at a desk which would cause me discomfort. I was advised by the manager concerned that he was happy for me to go.
Pausing to email my manager an account of the incident I left.
This was caused by a lack of commuinication (and respect) between managers and I am aware there is currently some very childish points scoring going on between them and feel this was part of that.
However I am left feeling very stressed and wondering if it will have consequences when I return on Monday - I'm already pretty much at the end of my tether with them for other reasons.
Help - any thoughts please??
btw I am in the union and will be contacting my rep on Monday but I don't need this....

| Re: conflict between managers impacting on staff Agreed. Correct course of action - today's Manager is completely wrong to expect you to disregard measures in place on agreed H&S grounds and you cannot be forced to comply in these circumstances. |

Whilst I was writing the email to my manager today's manager came over and said 'I thought you said you were leaving!'
When I explained what I was doing he didn't seem best pleased. I think based on a previous incident, some time ago, he expected me to burst into tears.
Zazen has moved on considerably since then
